NIMBLE CAMPER SAFELY
To load a camper safely, distribute heavy items low and directly over or just forward of the axle, secure all gear tightly, and check that your total weight stays under your vehicle’s legal limits.
Weight and Balance Principles
Low and Central: Place your heaviest items on the floor directly over or slightly in front of the axle. This keeps your centre of gravity low and prevents swaying.
Mid-Height and Overhead: Store medium-weight items in lower cabinets. Keep lightweight items like clothing in upper lockers.
Side-to-Side Balance: Match the weight on the left side to the weight on the right side to prevent the camper from pulling or leaning.
Know Your Limits: Found on your compliance plate
Tare Mass: 1000 kg
The weight of the camper when empty, excluding awning, toolbox, water in tank or any load.
ATM (Aggregate Trailer Mass): 1350 kg.
The maximum allowable weight of the camper when fully loaded. Do not exceed your vehicle’s towing capacity.
GVM / GCM: The maximum weight limits for your tow vehicle and combined setup.
Tow Ball Weight: Aim for roughly 8% to 15% of your total trailer weight on the ball.
